The team

Built by builders

The best software comes from people who understand the problem deeply — not just the code.

Simon Case

Founder & CEO — Chief Builder

Simon brings enterprise leadership and entrepreneurial grit to SCAINET. After 15 years in senior roles at one of Australia's Big 4 banks, he moved into the startup world — founding and joining early-stage ventures across multiple industries.

SCAINET is the culmination of that journey: enterprise-grade discipline applied to AI-native product development, with the agility of a founder who has built from zero before. In February 2026 he filed the first of SCAINET's nine provisional patents with IP Australia, protecting the core of how the company builds.

Green Belt Lean Six SigmaProcess optimisation and quality management certification
Serial entrepreneurFounder or first employee across multiple startup ventures
AI development pioneer2 years developing the Agent Excellence Framework

During his banking career, Simon identified a critical industry-wide problem, designed a complete software solution, authored the requirements, and convinced a major vendor to fully fund development.

That software is still used by every mortgage broker in Australia today — 13 years later.

Paul Lewis

Co-founder & CTO

Paul brings formal academic depth and hands-on engineering experience to SCAINET. Holding degrees in both Psychology and Computer Science — the latter completed with a GPA of 6.83 — he pursued Honours in Psychology before being awarded a research scholarship, a foundation that continues to shape how he thinks about human-AI interaction.

After years working across major government agencies including the ATO, Centrelink, and the NDIA, Paul made a deliberate pivot into technology in 2021, driven by a growing conviction that psychology and software engineering were more complementary than the industry recognised. He went on to complete an internship and graduate software engineering role at a defence intelligence company, before moving into freelance development and independent ventures.

That infrastructure passion became a defining thread. Paul developed a disciplined focus on DevOps practice, workflow automation, and continuous improvement — earning his CompTIA Network+ certification along the way. It is this combination — rigorous systems thinking informed by behavioural science — that makes his contribution to SCAINET distinct.

After years inside major government agencies, Paul made a deliberate pivot into technology in 2021 — convinced psychology and software engineering were more complementary than the industry recognised.

That pairing — behavioural science and rigorous systems thinking — is what he brings to SCAINET.

How the company is organised

Seats, not just people

Every role at SCAINET is a seat. A seat can be held by a person, by an AI persona, or by both working as one — 5 of 13 seats have a named AI persona today.
